Description
An expressionist self portrait drawing of the artist in three states; physical (facial depiction - including glasses), physiological (skeleton) and psychological/existential (skull and the sparkle 'dust' over the figure). An interior space is inferred by the grey wash square behind the figure. Black ink stains, drips and gestural brush marks also suggest depth (in terms of placement and how they radiate out from the figure on the left and right side) but also relate to the three states of energy conveyed in the portrait (and supported by the various inscriptions).
