Description
A painting of three figures in a dim interior setting. The main figure - the story teller - is male, wearing a brown hat, orange and white scarf, blue overcoat and long moustache holding a silver lidded jug and a pipe. His face and right hand is strongly lit and he looks directly at the viewer. The other figures are looking toward him with tilted heads, captivated, and with amused expressions. The subject is known to be Mr Henry Albert Soanes of Christchurch.
