Object Detail
Description
A head and torso portrait of an elderly man with white hair and a full white beard and moustache set within a blue background. The facial area is painted in detail; the outer edges are less resolved, evident by the broad brush strokes in a thin paint wash. There is a turned wood spindle (the top of a chair?) to the right of the subject. The subject has a mournful appearance with his head tiled down and eyes raised, looking to the left of the viewer.
Medium
Watercolour and oil wash on paper on cardboard
