Description
This batik describes an episode from the Ramayana, an epic Hindu poem. The poem focusses on the adventures of Rama, an avatar o fthe god Vishnu, who is regarded as a model of Hindu moral virtue. In this batik, Rama battles the demon Marica, who, after assuming the form of a deer had kidnapped Sita, Rama's devoted wife.
