Description
A studio portrait of Father Garin (1810 - 1889), the first resident Catholic Priest in Nelson. He is dressed in traditional vestments: black cassock, white clerical collar, and gold crucifix (obscured by the folds of the cassock). His biretta (hat) is placed on a red clothed table upon which he rests his right arm. He is holding a Bible (with his finger marking a page) in his left hand.
