Description
A wood engraving depicting a kneeling woman in profile. She has a naked torso and is holding a plate upon which sits a decapitated male head. Her body is bent over the tray and her hair is draped over the face of the head. The image is a reference to the biblical story of Salome, who seduced King Herod and encouraged him to execute John the Baptist. The title may be translated as 'The Shadow of Salome'.
