Description
A large and thick terracotta platter with an elaborate piped glaze decoration: a war ship at centre in full sail, against a black background with crescent moon (with facial features), stars and the ocean waves below; and an inscribed and triangular patterned rim. The inscription reads: "JOHN.POLLEX / FOR.NELSON.POTTERS". The date, 1981, is inscribed either side of the warship.
